Almost every process in the body requires enzymes. Digestion is no different.
Digestive enzymes are produced in the body and found in plants and raw foods. Enzymes are heat-sensitive, so cooking and processing food destroys the natural enzymes. We recommend adding plant-derived enzymes (Lipase, Amylase, Protease, and Cellulase) to any cooked or processed food to help liberate the food’s nutritional value.
Amylase is particularly important in digestion of carbohydrates and together with the other enzymes, it supports the normal digestion process to break down protein, starch, fat, and fibre and can increase the absorption of valuable nutrients by up to 71%. Furthermore, adding digestive enzymes to the diet can decrease the food requirement by 25%. Nobel-prize winner Dr. James B. Sumner of Cornell University suggested that we would get more nutrition from food if we increased our intake of plant enzymes.
increases the absorption of valuable nutrients by up to 71%
Digestive enzymes are especially useful when transitioning from one diet to another. They are also beneficial for cats on a plant-based diet because a cat has a shorter digestive tract than omnivores.
Prozyme® Plus is a unique, scientifically proven, all natural enzymatic food supplement. It provides the necessary digestive enzymes otherwise destroyed in cooked/processed foods. The addition of Prozyme® Plus allows greater absorption of the important nutrients found in your pet’s food by up to 71%, while decreasing the food requirement by 25%.
